It Begins

Okay, so I like titles. Which is why the title here sounds so dumb. Anyway, I'm not into blogging or anything like that, but I feel like I need the space on the net for myself. Anyway, I've been trying to find a way to let people know what I've been doing, and what I plan on doing. So let me start by introducing myself. I am Paul Diaz-Arrastia. Don't let the name fool you. Sure it's long, and sounds Spainish, but that does not mean I am Spainish.

My dad was born in Cuba, and his family left when he was nearly twelve. He moved to Houston, then went on to Strake Jesuit, then Rice, then went on for another several years in med school and is now a well respceted Neorologist at UTSW here in Dallas.

My mom was born in Ohio if I remember correctly. Her dad, my Grandpa, was in insurance, and started a few bussinesses. Because of this, they kept moving and moving until they ended up in Kansas. although by this time, my mom had moved on from high school, to Baylor (not the one in Waco)(I'm not sure which), and then on to med school. She went on to become a Pediatrition, and once upon a time, had her own bussiness, but unfortunatly, it didn't work out, and is now working for a Pediatric group helping small children, mostly with major problems keeping them in the hospital.

It was thanks to my mom that I was able to come to writing this blog now. You see, she closely studied learning disabilities in children. When I was in kindergarden, and reading comprehension was a big problem for me, she had be tested, and I was discovered to have Desylexia, and boy do I hope I spelled that right. I hope this whole post is spelled right. Anyway, I went to Oak Hill Academy in Dallas, and was able to leanr Phenetic Phonix to get around my learning disability. But it was through my learning disability that I was able to grow and fuel my interests.

I grew up not liking to read, although I could get through on my own with a very good book. But I loved the learning videos because I learned so much better with them. I guess if you're looking for a story about now, I'd tell you that I did not grow up watching the normal super heroes all the time. Sure, there was X-men and the Transformers re-runs, but I never got to go to a comic book store and read my first Batman or Spiderman issue. So, I enjoyed creating my own superheroes. I loved pretending to be them, but it couldn't stop there.

You see, people kept telling me when I was young that I had a great imagination, and I wanted to share that with people. So I would often make powerpoints of one of my early superheroes, Jason Stone. He was an alien, came from a royal family, evil villan was a computer that sought to destory his family for his ancestors who created the villan long ago, kept the computer to do their work for them, only to have the computer rebel, and fail, until he rebooted several years later. Long story, but it was the gateway to what I wanted to do with my life.
